Muncie, IN - Born to science loving, careful mother and fun loving, free spirited artist father - much conflict.

1949-54

Champaign, IL - Assisted parents in family sign studio till they divorced and father left town.

1967-69

Chicago, IL - collage as a passionate hobby

1978

Atlanta, GA - calligraphy workshop with Margaret Rigg cracked open my fear of doing art. Began learning blacksmithing as a craft medium.

1983-89

in the woods near Clarkesville and Helen, GA, about 80 miles NE of Atlanta - training and fulltime work as an artist-blacksmith

1990-94

Specialized in bowls: paper mache bowls of oriental paper, and openwork iron bowls

1995-2001

Dark Night of the Soul - and computer obsession - bowls begun, much experimentation and work, invented paper medicine bags but no bowls completed

2002

Cracked open - cracked sacrum, broken elbow - then completed first bowl sculpture integrating paper and iron, first bowl in 7 years

2003

Went on with the mixed media bowl sculpture series, completing 2 more pieces; first paintings

2004
