What do you think?   Do I have too many Chi Energy™ Bags on display at once?

I've read recently that it's best to have no more than ten artworks of the same kind, on view at one time. In fact, the ideal is seven.

What do you think? Do I have too many Chi Energy™ Bags on display at once? Does this make it hard to choose? Or do you like having this much choice?

I've been adding Chi Energy™ Bags to the website for months. But I keep getting bogged down finishing this section. Your suggestions could help me get all the energy bags online and easy to find.

How would you most like to be able to find the Chi Energy™ Bags of most interest to you? What information do you want? I may be way off the mark in the way I'm doing this. Your comments and suggestions will help a lot.

Previews of New Work   "Broken Hearts" framedBe among the first to see the new

"Broken Heart Pictures." These are paintingscloseup of "Broken Hearts" and prints about how our hearts are broken repeatedly through life - and then healed. This is a new painting in the "heart pictures" series. At right is a closeup of a few of the hearts in this painting.

Each of the paintings in this series is a large grid of hearts in assorted colors, some broken, some not, joined with a "heartbeat" line. To me this represents the heart's journey in life - breaking and healing. How does it end? Check out the whole painting to see.

Shown here is a print as it might look matted and framed. Of course you can choose the mat and frame to suit your space and taste. These prints and paintings fit standard sizes for easy, inexpensive framing.

I've also made a separate page for the Heart Pictures paintings and prints.

I'll be adding new paintings through the month of October, so please keep checking the painting section of the site. Most of the paintings will be on stretched canvas. Prices will always be the same or lower on my website, than in my eBay store.

If you prefer to shop at eBay, though, there are many prints, drawings, and paintings there. My store is called Modern Abstract Art by CJ Morgan. My plan is to keep the store open through December, then evaluate whether or not to continue with the eBay store and auctions.

You can always search eBay for my artwork using the search term: CJMORGAN (all run together like an email address.)

Take Heart   Looking at all those hearts, you may remember that this heart theme runs through quite a lot of my work:
  • heart pictures (original paintings, and archival prints of original heart paintings)

  • broken heart pictures - original paintings on watercolor paper, and archival prints of original paintings

  • "Take Heart" paper and iron vessel sculpture

  • Chi Energy™ Bags related to heart chakra balancing (4th chakra)

  • Coming soon - new mixed media wall hanging vessels, some with a focus on heart imagery - for love and health.

I started making art on this theme last year, and it keeps coming up. It certainly fits with my interest in mind-body healing. And more and more research is showing that the heart is itself a kind of mind, with enormous influence over our experiencing and health.

I'll write more on this later. Meanwhile, I'm sure I'll be continuing to make art on this theme. It's one way I can send you blessings to YOUR heart.

eBay Store

"Be Wild" - archival 8x10" print, ready to mat and frame. This one can be hung horizontally or vertically.

Many prints of my original paintings are available in my eBay store, Modern Abstract Art by CJ Morgan.

Prints are only $11, plus $4 shipping. Shipping is only $4 for the entire order, no matter how many you buy.

Prints of the pencil drawings in the Automatic Drawing Gallery are also for sale in the store, for only $6 each. You can combine prints of paintings with prints of drawings in one order, for the same $4 shipping charge.

Mandalas

The eBay store also includes 8x10" archival prints of acrylic paintings I've done as mandalas. Like the automatic drawings, these are done spontaneously as a kind of journal work. I've listed the ones I like best. These color prints are $11 each. Some of these are in the Leaf Art section.

Auctions at eBay:

I'll try to keep posting a new auction about every week or 10 days.  Search eBay using the phrase CJMORGAN because I put this in every auction title. I'll also link to each auction from the paintings page of my website. So you can check there first.

These auction paintings will always be new paintings - not posted before in the eBay store or on my website. So if you see a painting or drawing you like on my website or in my eBay store, go ahead and buy it now. It won't be on auction at a better price.

Shift in Focus and Attitude   Recently I've been reminded again that my core identity is not Artist. You could say I'm a psychologist in artist's clothing. Actually, my real work is shamanic.  I go to another level of reality, to bring back the energies of wild nature to my civilization - that is, to you. Artwork is the main vehicle for this, but not the only one. Writing, coaching, and workshops are other vehicles I may use even more in the future.

So now I'm spending more time outdoors, less in studio and office. I've dusted off my beautiful turquoise gourd rattle with its black and white snake. Now I can once again circle the studio three times with it before beginning work. I'm hiking in wild places again. It feels wonderful.

It's also scary. I'm walking in the dark a lot, metaphorically speaking. A lot of artwork called "shamanic art" is art I don't really like. I prefer abstract art, spontaneous expressionist art - not fairies and sort of creepy stuff. And I'm afraid of being thought "too weird." So I guess I'll just make the art, writing, and workshops as I feel called to make them. And say only however much I feel comfortable saying about why and how I do it.

Updates to article on artistic development   I've updated the article on my basic process of artistic self education and developing as an artist. I added quite a few new links. Much of this article is applicable to writers and to creators in any medium. Feel free to print this or send it to friends, as long as you give me credit and include my website address: http://www.cjmorgan.com/
From last month   Creativity coaching is going well. And I appreciate each one of you who bought artwork last month or let me know in some other way that you support my work. Thanks so very much.

Favorite book of the month   This time it's a novel: "Tropic of Night," by Michael Gruber. If you've been reading my weblog, you've already read my longer review of it. This is one of the best novels I've read in quite a while. For someone who often finishes a novel every night, that's saying a lot.

Except for the last one, "Hoax," Michael Gruber has been the author behind the scenes in the Tanenbaum "Karp family" thrillers. If you've enjoyed those, you'll recognize the style and rhythm of the writing in "Tropic of Night." Gruber makes his characters really come alive. The story is skillfully told.

"Tropic of Night" is about African sorcery. More than that, it's about reality as consensual. It reminds me of Pearce's "The Crack in the Cosmic Egg." I was amazed to come across, in "Tropic of Night," the term "final participation." This is from Owen Barfield's book, "Saving the Appearances." It's another way to talk about a world fully alive, reenchanted, with subject to subject relating - like Martin Buber's "I and Thou."

If all this sounds pretty heavy and intellectual for a suspense thriller, it is. That's the beauty of Gruber's writing. The depth of meaning only adds to the story, without taking away at all from the sheer enjoyment of suspense and a story well told.

Favorite website of the month   This month, it's the new site I'm designing for woodturner Marge Felder. Right now you can see some beautiful turned wood perfume bottles. You can also read about Marge herself. I hope you'll bookmark the site as one of your favorites, and return often. We'll be adding more work regularly, especially between now and the holidays. Many of her gifts made from wood are not only beautiful, but easy to ship or pack in a suitcase. So they make wonderful holiday gifts.

Since I'm still working on this site, I'll appreciate any comments or suggestions. You can email me from the site or here.

Please give your friends this same special offer. Forward this to them now. Share your blessings. When you forward this newsletter right away to friends, you are giving them the opportunity to take advantage of this month's special offer. And you'll be supporting the growth of my art business. The more my art business grows, the more time I can spend developing my art. Then you'll have even better art from which to choose.
