Broken Heart Pictures
Series
This is one
of several paintings and prints in the
Broken Heart Pictures series. To me, the
grid of hearts represents a sort of story
quilt. Each heart, broken or whole,
represents an important part of the person's
story. Making the paintings, I gave some
thought to my own broken hearted times.
The actual
painting of the hearts was spontaneous. My
hope is that the story of these hearts will
resonate for you too. It seems likely that
we each have a story of our heart breaking
and healing, over and over.
Broken Heart Pictures are
ready to mat and frame:
I ship paintings on paper
unmatted and unframed to save you shipping
costs. The 9x12" paintings are a standard
size, fitting a 12x16" mat. So once framed,
the Broken Heart pictures are medium sized
artwork.

Choosing a different mat
color and frame will dramatically change the
painting:

Because the 12x16" mat is a
standard size, matting and framing will be
relatively inexpensive.

You can see the watercolor
and gouache effect. All the paint is
actually top quality fluid acrylic paint.
Materials used for the
original Broken Heart Pictures paintings:
I used good quality
watercolor paper blocks for the paper,
mostly Strathmore 160 lb. The paint is
Golden fluid and air brush acrylics, for a
watercolor and gouache effect with excellent
lightfastness. These paintings should last
many years with good framing and care.

"Broken Hearts"
This is one of my favorites. I'm saving the
original painting to use as part of a mixed
media vessel sculpture. Archival 8x10" prints
of the original painting are available,
however, for $12 plus $4 shipping.
Framed, the "Broken Hearts" painting can look
like this:

Of course, changing the mat
color makes a big difference in how the
painting looks:

Please bookmark this page as
a Favorite, as I'll be adding at least two
more paintings and prints in the Broken
Hearts series.
Prints, like the paintings
on paper, are shipped unmatted and unframed.
This saves you money in
shipping. It also lets you select the mat
and frame you prefer. Since the painting and
print sizes are standard, this is easy and
inexpensive.
These prints will last well.
I use the finest art
materials and archival techniques available
so your purchase will last for generations.
To ensure high quality, I
make these giclee prints myself with Epson
Durabrite ink on acid-free Epson matte
heavyweight paper. This combination of ink
and paper has been well tested - officially
estimated to last 72 years without
significant fading. As
with any work of art, it's best to display
it away from direct sunlight.
Certificates of Authenticity
Each painting and print is
signed and dated. A signed Certificate of
Authenticity is also shipped with each
painting and print. This certifies that the
work was done personally by me - Catherine
Jo Morgan, the artist. Prices are left out
so you can include the COA with the artwork
if you give it as a gift.
Note cards of Broken Heart
Pictures

make beautiful note cards. I'll add note
card to the site in time for the major
holiday shopping season. Meanwhile, if you
would like to order large, beautifully
printed note cards of any of the paintings
or drawings, just
email me. I'll make arrangements with
you.
Join my Art Collectors Club to get

ABOUT CATHERINE JO MORGAN:

I draw, paint and make vessel
sculptures in my studio in the woods of
northeast Georgia, in the foothills of the
Smoky Mountains. I live in a rustic cabin I
built with my partner in 1982. After an
earlier career as a psychologist, I became a
fulltime artist-blacksmith in 1985. Since
1990, I've specialized in iron and mixed
media vessel sculptures. My drawings and
paintings are usually studies for these
sculptures. I draw my inspiration from walks
in the woods, especially hikes into
wilderness areas. My work
is in private collections across the United
States. I've participated in invitational
shows, including a show of iron bowls at
Georgia Southern University in 1996. I've
also taught blacksmithing and metal
sculpture. In 1990 I was a featured
demonstrator at the national blacksmithing
conference in Alfred, New York. My bowls are
also featured in Dona Meilach's book,
Contemporary Ironwork.
