here for an even larger one. Abstract Paintings:This is one of my favorites among the abstract paintings. It shows up better in person than on the monitor. For some reason, it always makes me smile to look at it. I do the abstract paintings completely spontaneously. In this sense they're related to the spontaneous "automatic drawings" I do in pencil. I let my hand choose the colors as it sets out the paints. Then I pick up a brush and see what happens. This painting is part of the Leaf Art series. The leaf print on the right is made with a mountain maple leaf. This maple is one of my favorites, with its curving branches. I've lived more than one place here in Georgia, where I could look out at a big mountain maple while I sat at a desk to write. So I associate this beautiful tree with inspiration.
