Tips on Finding

The pickup point is at the top of the second driveway on the right, after you turn onto Stonebank Road from Preacher Campbell Road. There are four 911 signs (555, 563, 569, and 579) at the bottom of this driveway, which angles to the right and goes uphill.

You’ll pass the 555 building (my old blacksmithing shop) partway up the drive. Keep going up to the top of the hill. Let me know your arrival time so I can set your order out if the weather is dry. In bad weather I’ll let you know how we can transfer your order to your car safely.

If you turn onto Preacher Campbell from Hwy 17, then Stonebank is the third street sign. If you turn onto Preacher Campbell from Hwy 105, then Stonebank is the first street sign on the left.

Stonebank Road is a gravel road, well county maintained. Sometimes after a huge downpour it’s bumpy in a spot or two. My gravel driveway is sometimes smooth, sometimes rough but not requiring all-wheel drive or a high clearance.

So you know what to expect.

This is essentially a wildlife retreat — for birds, animals, and a wild painter. It doesn’t look at all like a subdivision, middle class home, or real farm. There’s a sign on the driveway that announces “Stonebank Farm.” Really, what has mainly grown here are wildlife, ironwork and woodworking, paintings, and above all, a deeper and wider spiritual life.

The land is mainly left wild. Painting comes first, so if there’s a garden at all, it may be quite straggly.

This is basically a place of wonder, simplicity, and joy. A very happy place.
